In the early 1980s, women wore more soft fabrics and neutral colours.Denim jeans were popular,  with bleaching, dyeing and some really expensive designer jeans came with pre-made holes in them.The mid-to-late eighties were a time of experimentation. From fabrics that changed colour to clothes meant to be worn backwards. Bright neon colours were fashionable. Belts and bracelets were the very important  accessories.Brand names were more important than ever.

Most mens clothes where snug fitting and comfortable.Men in the early 1980s loved wearing long sleeve velour shirts.Levi’s were very popular.Turtlenecks were well liked  throughout the decade, especially when worn under a bright coloured sweater.
